Hugo Weaving in a pair of Speedos while clutching a bunch of slimy seaweed

He is starring in The Dressmaker, currently in theatres, and was announced to join the cast of Mel Gibson-directed film Hacksaw Ridge last month.

So it was no wonder Hugo Weaving needed to take a break from his busy schedule on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old Matrix star went for an ocean swim with his partner Katrina Greenwood in Sydney's Bondi Beach, before walking to shore with a bunch of seaweed in his hand.

For the beach outing, the bearded actor wore a pair of small black Speedos, while his longtime girlfriend matched him in a black one-piece.

Before heading back to his towel, the uncle to Samara Weaving found a piece of kelp in the sea and carried it in his hands. 

He appeared to drop it back into the water before stepping onto the sand to dry himself off.

The Lord of the Rings star seemed to have gotten some salty seawater in his eyes as he closed them in pain.

Hacksaw Ridge will be Gibson’s fifth directorial offering after the mixed critical and commercial successes of The Man Without A Face, Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto.
